First of all, what is a resume? Plain and simple, it’s a summarized description of you, taking into account all your accomplishments from studies to your contributions in the work environment.

Hobbies and interests like singing or watching movie marathons wont attract employers looking for a professional in the medical field for example. Make sure you only include what’s relevant. If you are unsure of what to include thin about it this way: will putting that into my resume significantly increase… Read More

Many clients want to know why I leave out certain info off of their resume. The reason I give every time- is that it doesn't sell- and that is what a resume is supposed to do.
I.e.: One client wanted to included her college work at 2 other universities all while maintaining her career. Both were at local community colleges. Not exactly something you want to bring up when you already have an MBA from an ivy league school. It isn't valuable info, and it left room on the resume for content that was.
another I.e:13 years ago- she held a job as a retail sales girl. This client was now working on a Financial Analyst position, but questioned… Read More

Quickie tips...
If you aren't getting any bites at all from sending out your resume, then lose that version and try again.
The fact is if you wrote a smashing resume and sent it out just as needed to companies looking for someone like you... they WILL contact you. If they don't it isn't you so get that smug look off your face... The problem could be a million things.. the HR team just being inundated with resumes from great candidates, to a wrong resume strategy, or even a small shift in focus as to what kind of person the company is looking for.
Focus on fixing and tweaking what you can; try again and I promise the responses will… Read More

Quick Info. You can check the company website for personnel info. Also you can check on the company website to see what positions are open. This usually will provide you with further contact info and more of it than just job boards. Media/PR pages on the company website and the net usually help as well.
In the end- research. The internet is such a beautiful thing!
One really sneaky way to do it- and honestly, it is my favorite... call the company!Ask the receptionist for the spelling of the hiring managers name for X department- so you can be sure to spell it right on the letter. Sometimes and if you are good enough... you can even… Read More
