5 Problem Points You Can Fix Before Your Big Interview
There are things you can’t control but there are known common problems that you can prevent or fix way ahead of time. Do you remember your last failed interview? Can you recall what went wrong? Take note of what they were and find a way to fix those problems.
Here are 5 problem points that you can fix before your next big interview:
Butterflies in your stomach It’s okay to be nervous but if it hinders you from talking clearly and understandably, then it’s a problem that you have to fix. If you profusely sweat, stutter, shiver, fidget nonstop or just look like you’re going to vomit when you’re feeling nervous then you better do something before your big interview date comes up. Calm those nerves. Practice an interview setting with a friend. Pretend that you’re in the actual interview and repeat doing that until you’re confident that you can maintain composure on your big day.
Boring answers to common questions There are several ways to say “hire me, me!!!” So don’t stick to a plain statement saying “I can do this job.” Recruiters can get bored too. Plus the goal in every interview is to make a striking impression that will differentiate you (in a positive way) from all the other interviewees in line. Anticipate the common questions you may be asked and be ready with creative statements to answer those questions.
Lost for words To test your wits, recruiters sometimes insert questions that can just leave you lost for words. These unusual questions can throw you off and maybe even have you blurt out huh?..what? The fix for this is to practice how to stop and think. Don’t worry, there’s no 5 second buzzer you have to beat. If an interviewer says “Tell me…what are your weaknesses?” take a moment to think and then give your answer. Please, don’t just say “Well, I don’t know.”
Arriving late Have you ever felt like the world conspired against you and that you have just had every personal issue rain down on you on your big day? Well, if this has happened to you in a previous interview then try to do everything you can to steer away from it. It can be helped. Take care of any personal responsibilities ahead of time. Make sure your commute to work is well planned and free of anything that can cause you not to arrive on time. Remember being punctual can make or break your chance to get that job you want.
Uncertainties A huge pimple on your face, pink eyes, terrible tan lines showing, a bad cold or headache…these are problems that can just show up just a few days prior to your big interview. It would be a waste of time to just lament on how this can ruin things for you so if this happens, find a quick fix right away. Make use of cosmetics and accessories to hide unwanted eye sores. Take vitamins and medicines to improve your health and be energized, ready and confident for your big interview.
Luck may not always favor us, but don’t just feel helpless and let problems take over. Find your quick fix to these problems and be ready to win over the interviewer and get the job.
