Generally, the more specialized the skills are, the higher the salary is. High ranked technology gurus within any company tend to make the biggest bucks. Listed below are some IT jobs that pay really well.

 

1. Chief Information Officers. The CIO is the highest paid technology expert in every company. S/he is the chief of the IT department, directly reports to the CEO of the company, and is responsible for all IT functions inside an enterprise. Leadership is very important especially in a technology-driven economic landscape. They come up with the latest IT applications and solutions for the company that are cost-efficient and effective. The current salary range for these jobs is from $98,209 to $149,241; although in some areas such as New York, for example, CIOs receive over $300,000 annually.

 

2. IT Auditors. They are responsible for examining IT structures. They determine if an IT system is in good shape, capable of delivering the demands of the company without compromising confidentiality and efficiency. The national pay scale range is $59,906 – $82,963. However, pay can be dramatically influenced by compensable factors, such as company size, employee credentials, years of experience and others.

 

3. Data Modelers. They define and analyze data requirements needed to support a business process organization. They identify the type and format of data to be needed. Also, they come up with conceptual data models to be later followed by logistical data models. This type of job becomes very essential to every company as it seeks to address problems in data banking and retrieval. Salary scale is between $82,778 and $120,858. A senior data modeler typically receives $118,000.

 

4. Network Security Administrators. They ensure the internal security of the network. They define access of certain data, information and physical resources to a particular set of users. The annual compensation for network security administrators ranges from $54,000 to $110,000.

 

5. Software Engineers. They create new software applications to meet the changing technological needs of clients. This position requires excellent skills in problem solving, the ability to analyze the needs of the client and develop a program based on those requirements. The typical salary scale for software engineers is from $87,000 to over $94,000.

 

6. Business Continuity Analyst. You have a lot of research to do. If you are a business continuity analyst, you must be able to determine the strengths and weaknesses of a company. You have to be efficient in Internet-based and traditional research. Although salaries can vary greatly depending on company, location, industry and experience, the typical pay scale range is $50,794 – $86,484.
