Prospecting and (Social) Networking Strategies

Almost everyone has his or her account in social networking sites. This has been the trend for the past few years since the Internet introduced social networking. Primarily focused on bridging distances in the world, it works great in building up a large network of friends – and business prospects. This kind of networking provides a great opportunity and advantage for prospecting. Here are some common and simple-to-apply social networking strategies for successful prospecting.

Know your target market. Social networks are free of charge; anyone can easily sign up, register, and make their own profiles. Conduct as search for people and identify which ones belong to your target market through reading their profiles and add them to your contact list. Don’t just simply click “Add as Friend”, but also leave a simple, friendly message to briefly introduce yourself.

Identify techniques for pursuing your prospects. Once you have built a considerable number of prospects, come up with a strategy on how you can pursue them. Enhance your profile by writing more details about you and your business. Subtly discuss subjects leading to the deals you are offering but don’t sound too pushy. Find out their likes or interests and make the information work to your advantage. If you only a small percentage of the people on your list showed interest in your products or services, don’t get easily disheartened; it is still something you can build on.

Be ready to invest time. You have to plan and define a specific number of hours in your work day for prospecting. Set a limit to the number of prospects you want to pursue in a day to avoid getting overwhelmed (which can result to ineffectiveness); this ensures that you can devote your time to follow up on each prospect diligently.

Utilize as many tools as you possibly can. Make sure you write blogs and posts or upload videos that are attractive and can stimulate interest. Your content and other tools are highly crucial to gain more readers and viewers. Write about things the most people want to read. Pick a good subject and think about your purpose – whether to inform, to persuade, or to entertain. By carefully planning what you are going to post, you are increasing the chances of building up the number of prospects you have – expect more hits and more people to come back and read or watch more. Give them something to anticipate in the next tweet or blog or video.

Prospecting is all about considering the interest of your target market. Success in prospecting greatly depends on the amount of information you know about the people in your social network. If you want your business to grow, you need to put up a well-defined prospecting plan and follow consistent and focused social networking strategies.
