So You Have To Write A Resume….
First of all, what is a resume? Plain and simple, it’s a summarized description of you, taking into account all your accomplishments from studies to your contributions in the work environment.
Now before you start writing your resume, try to put yourself in the employers shoes and think of what they may be interested to see in your resume. Hobbies and interests like singing or watching movie marathons wont attract employers looking for a professional in the medical field for example. Make sure you only include what’s relevant. If you are unsure of what to include thin about it this way: will putting that into my resume significantly increase my chance of getting an interview or job? If not- cut it out!
Your resume is like a proposal stating that you’re the right person for the job, so I suggest you emphasize details about your area of expertise. Concentrate on the positive aspects about you. Indicate a specific goal for a specific job you’re applying for. This is imperative as this gives the impression that you’re serious about your application and that you have a clear concept of what you’d want to accomplish instead of merely wanting to get a job.
Different job positions call for different contents on your resume. So, make sure that for each job you’re aiming for the resume you write contains all relevant information about you that would show you’re the perfect fit. Include skills, trainings or work experiences that would match the job requirements.
One last thing that you should also take note of would be the presentation. Avoid using fancy paper sheets and please, no pictures from way back when! You would be amazed at what I have seen! Remember that the overall quality of your resume says a lot about you so, keep it professional in every way.
