Q: How well do job boards work in YOUR job search?
The fact is many hiring managers and recruiters live on social networks… Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Monster.com, Inside Tech, and others… It all comes down to how ‘in the loop’ are you to go out and get the attention of these people. It is full steam ahead towards relationship driven systems, rather than job board driven systems in 2010!
So how can utilize both the job boards and this crazy lil thing called networking to move to your advantage?
Simple.
Go to job boards. Some of the most popular are:
- Monster
- CareerBuilder
- Craigslist
Find job postings that are of great interest to you and use the social networks to locate hiring managers and recruiters for those companies and start smooth talking your way into a career. A lil professional and personal chat doesn’t harm anyone and just may get you into the job you want.
Networking is just not gonna go away… even for all of you that even until today shun it. Open your eyes- networking is here to stay. In the end, it’s not about finding the newest job opening; it is about finding the right people that have interest in your experience, resume and what you have to offer.
So what has been your experience with both job boards and networking?
