What Executives Secretly Hate About Their Job

Top executives make it easy for us to think they’re living the good life and that everything is coming up roses. Though most beg to disagree, executives also have their fair share of ups and downs. More than anything, they actually have more difficult conditions to deal with.

Here are just a few things that executives secretly hate about their jobs:

People think they earn more than they actually do. Not all executives start out big. Account and Sales Executives start at about $40,000 and increase their earnings (through commissions) depending on new accounts they’re able to acquire and expand. But having the title of an executive, they’re expected to afford a certain lifestyle that they should be able to maintain though they may actually be on a really tight budget.

Pleasing people can be a pain. In order to maintain favored contracts and business tie-ups, executives are responsible for keeping clients happy, to encourage them to invest more and support their company’s business. They have to keep their energy up all the time and that is by no means an easy job.

Pressure and demand takes its toll, too. Although most executives seem like they’re all about their jobs, they also enjoy spending as much time with family and friends as we all do. But certain demands for their jobs can prohibit them from enjoying most social and family events. When faced with really important projects, they need to be on call around the clock.

Constant barrage of communication. Both top level executives and lower ranking executives claim problems with communication. Most of the time they have to keep an open line of contact with business owners and top level management; they are expected to be on top of their game at all times and always meet expectations independently. If you think your smart phone never stops beeping or the e-mails never stop coming, your boss is in the same position…only a hundredfold.

Some executives feel they are not valued enough. A recent survey showed that more than 60% of executives are not satisfied with their jobs. Job titles may be the same, but conditions would still be different from company to company. Because of this, with every executive’s competitive mindset, some often feel like they’re not getting enough and deserve to have so much more compared to people who also has the same job title.

Employees labeled with the title of Executive can earn up to more than $200,000 annually. While it’s a tempting prospect, don’t be think for a minute that there isn’t an equivalent amount of difficulty. Though the chance to rise up the ranks is there, you should be fully aware that while spending that hard-earned dough is the easy part, everything else behind it is not made up of sugar and spice and everything nice! Successful executives are at the top for a reason, they’ve worked really hard to be where they are now. I guess on our part it’s good to know they’re human, too.
