Pay is not just always commensurate to education or experience it can also vary depending on the demand, the company you’ll be working for or the state where the workplace is located.

Obviously, people in the medical field are among the highest paid. Doctors easily earn more than $100,000, however Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists and Massage Therapists earn between $45,000 to $65,000. The investment to earn degrees in this field will not be cheap. You could almost say “It pays to study hard”. Oh but the rewards would be infinite. Yes, these jobs really pay good coin. The next time you find yourself in a hospital, and find a nurse standing next to you…imagine the price tag attached to the tender loving care you are receiving.

Engineers can earn anywhere between $50,000 to more than $80,000, but you only get paid top dollar if you have the additional training and certifications required for the job. Not to mention the experience and reputation that can only be had when you work on big projects. A career like that can potentially jump start a good blueprint for early retirement.

Surprising enough, jobs that require a flair for art like Animators, Interior Designers and Food Stylists are also part of the population taking home at least 50 Gs. Whoever said art does not put bread on the table may hold their tongue the next time they see the latest web or game animation or the next foodie magazine cover.

Gaming Managers, Sales Supervisors, Detectives and Real Estate Brokers (in states not severely hit by the recession) are examples of occupations that not only earn you $50,000…but where you can qualify even without a college degree. Oddly convenient for an odd job, wouldn’t you agree?

We mentioned earlier you may find that some occupations may pay higher or lower depending on which state the company is based. Teachers or Dentists in some states like New York and some parts of California would guarantee a minimum of $50,000, while in other states the most you can get for these jobs would only be a little over $30,000. Teachers suffer the most these days due to state budget cuts, which may shift the overall dynamic of the job market later on. Dentists on the other hand, will have work as long as they have patients walking through their doors and teeth to fix.

Making $50,000 these days would not afford you an extravagant lifestyle as celebrities enjoy. However, it can allow you to enjoy most of the conveniences you and your small family may need. Though having a lot of money may seem like a better choice, the job you choose should at least be something you like (or love) not just something you can live with, and something stable that could sustain you for years to come.
